It is a long way from taking photos to catalogise, to modify and to archive them in a secure way.

Here I eyplain ONE way how to proceed with all the photos. It’s the way I currently do and I have good experience with it.
It might not be the way you prefer, so regard this as an example. The software I use for dealing with the pictures is Adobe Lightroom (LR)

  1. Load all your photos from your camera to your C: drive of the computer.
    (of course, the photos are all taken as RAW)
  2. Copy all the photos from the C: drive of the computer to the external hard disk nr 1
  3. Copy all the photos from the C: drive of the computer to the external hard disk nr 2
  4. Lean back, you have made a full backup of your pictures.
  5. Import the photos into Lightroom
    by using presets for importing all pictures get automatically IPTC info and tags you defined
  6. Shortlist 1: Eliminate all photos in which the object is blurred or if it’s a human the eyes are closed
  7. Shortlist 2: Provide all photos with one star which are worth for a reconsideration
  8. Shortlist 3: Filter all one star photos and provide all pictures with two star which are worth to develop
  9. Develop all two star photos
  10. Export developed photos as JPG files on the C: drive
  11. Copy all developed JPG file on the external harddisks 1 and 2
  12. Copy the LR catalogue file also to the both external harddisks
